With the very successful uptake of version 7, the development on v6 has certainly slowed down a bit but today we are finally happy with the resulting v6.2.0 version that includes a lot of things that have already been merged up into version 7 and thus have already been tested there.
As mentioned in the previous blog post about our future plans, version 6 is now in maintenance mode and will only receive necessary bug fixes, no more new features. As such, any new releases will all be patch releases.
So what can you expect from v6.2.0? A lot! First of all, we'd like to thank once again the major role that our community has played in getting fixes into this version. Of the 255 fixed issues, a whopping 66 of them have been provided by pull request! A lot of these contributions came from last year's Pre-UK festival hackathon which is turning into a wonderful yearly tradition.
Other than that you can expect to see the option to Change Document types on existing content and the new Member API including new snippets for creating a member-driven site easily (like in v7).
And finally as I mentioned before there's 255 new fixes in this version ranging from small bug fixes to making it easier to work with our APIs. The whole list is available on the release page.
Since I said "release page", I think now would be a good time to head on over there and to get downloading!
